WHAT IS MICROPIGMENTATION?
Permanent makeup (or semi permanent) or micropigmentation is a dermo-pigmentation that is carried out by putting pigments on the skin through needles that introduce them at the epidermis level.
WHAT IS MICROPIGMENTATION USED FOR?
To beautify, balance and/or fix facial features, especially brows, lips or eyelids. It is also used to fix aesthetic damage or defects, such as: baldness camouflage, pubic hair alopecia, scars camouflage, mammary areolas reconstruction, burns camouflage, making freckles and moles.
HOW LONG DOES THE RESULT OF MICROPIGMENTATION LAST?
The result can vary between 2-3 years, depending on the skin. On older and dry skins it usually lasts 4-5 years and on younger skins it normally lasts 2-3 years. It also depends on the tones used as darker tones take longer to be eliminated.
HOW IS THE MICROPIGMENTATION PROCEDURE?
During micropigmentation there is an inflammation of the tissues as consequence of the wound produced by the needles. As body response, the skin will send leucocytes and macrophages to the micropigmented area. In the next few hours a scab will form which will last between 4 or 5 days. The scab makes the colour much more intense than the desired tone. It will disappear in a week approximately. After 30 days the pigmentation fixation process is not completed, producing loss of colour between 10%-15% or even more on some skins with higher sebaceous secretion, eliminating more pigment.
DOES MICROPIGMENTATION HURT?
The procedure produces a certain discomfort (although totally bearable) especially on sensitive areas such as lips and eyes. Discomfort depends on the sensitivity of each person. It is recommended applying an anesthetic cream 1 hour prior to the procedure.
DO I NEED A SECOND MICROPIGMENTATION SESSION?
After 30 days you will need to come back for a second session due to the normal fading of the pigment previously mentioned. It cannot be done before three days as it could cause a double increase in pain.
MICROPIGMENTATION FOLLOW-UP CARE
A specific cream is prescribed to help healing. Avoid direct sunlight until the procedure is completed and the affected area is totally healed. Likewise, it is recommended using sunscreen because an accidental exposure to sunlight for too long could result in undesired tones.
WHICH PROFESSIONAL WILL BE EXECUTING THE MICROPIGMENTATION?
Our micropigmentation technical personnel have all the medical certificates legally required. Apart from that, they have over 30 years of experience in applying this technique. One of them has been a teacher in the best micropigmentation training centres in Barcelona.
